My golf story began more than 30 years ago when my family moved to Tualatin and joined Tualatin Country Club. I developed an early passion and love for the game, and I played golf for Tigard and Tualatin High schools. I continued my pursuit of golf into college where I enrolled in the Professional Golf Management Program at New Mexico State. I also wanted to continue to continue my competitive playing career so I walked-on at NMSU and ended up playing for three (3) years on the golf team.

Following my graduation form NMSU I became a Golf Professional and continued to grow my knowledge and passion for the game. I have been lucky enough to work at some of the best golf courses on the West coast. After college I spent two years at Kapalua resort on Maui, then moved to The Golf Club at Newcastle in Seattle. (I am still not sure how someone talked me into leaving Hawaii in February to move to Seattle 😊.) After Seattle, I wanted to spend some time in a warmer, dryer climate so I traveled to the desert and worked at PGA West, La Quinta resort as well as Bighorn GC and The Hideaway. My last and most recent stop prior to coming to RedTail was at Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa Valley where I spent five years as a golf professional.

In addition to my work experience in the golf industry, I have always enjoyed playing competitive golf. To this end, I took a “sabbatical” in the middle of my working career to play golf professionally. I ended up playing as a full time Tour Professional for 10 years. During my decade of playing golf professionally I Competed on mini tours all over the country trying to get my game ready to reach my goal of playing on the PGA Tour. I have competed on the Web.com, Canadian, NGA Hooters, Dakotas, Golden State and Cascade tours. I have gone to the famous PGA Tour Qualifying School 5 times and been to the Sectional round of US Open qualifying 3 times. Over the course of my playing career I have won 25 tournaments, set 4 course records and 1 tournament scoring record (-25). I continue to love to play this wonderful game, but my main focus is now on teaching golf. I enjoy sharing my playing experiences with my students, and I feel all of my playing, education and work history allows me to bring a unique and effective perspective to teaching this great game.

In April of 2017 my family and I moved back to Portland form the Bay area. I am very excited to be back in the Portland area at RedTail Golf Center where I can share my golf knowledge and unique insight as a tournament player to help make others better golfers.

I invite you to come in and share your golf story so that I can help you reach your golfing goals.
