Custom Fitting Defined: "The right clubs for you and your game!"
What is Custom Fitting?
If you were to ask ten golf professionals this question you would most likely receive ten different answers. Custom fitting has been around on the professional golf tours for decades, yet it has only recently become available to recreational and/or non-professional golfers. Over the last few years advancements in technology and manufacturing have allowed custom fitting to become readily available to all golfers. As with most new concepts, however, custom fitting is widely misperceived, misunderstood, and misrepresented.
At RedTail we pride ourselves on being true experts. To this end we think it's extremely important to first answer the question, "What is Custom Fitting?" In our opinion custom fitting is very simply defined as "determining the right clubs for you and your game."
It is of further importance to understand that custom fitting is not an exact science. Rather, it is an art form from which the result (your golf clubs) are only as good as the artist who performs the work. There are a tremendous number of variables that must be considered when determining the proper configuration of club specifications for any player. Therefore, the skill level, training, tools, technology, craftsmanship and experience of the person performing the custom fit are of critical importance.
In order to achieve this goal of determining the right clubs for you and your game, we take every client through a comprehensive player profile, pre-fitting, static fitting, dynamic fitting, set composition profile, personal distance spectrum and finally custom fitting wrap-up and summary.
Most importantly we perform all of these functions with actual ball flight from tee-to-green. We do not custom fit into a net where the ball flight ends ten feet in front of you. (Do you think any tour player would be custom fit into a net that ends ten feet in front of him or her? Thus, neither should you. In our opinion, ball flight is an essential element of any proper fitting as ultimately it is the ball flight for which you are being fit.) Thus, at RedTail we pride ourselves on the resources, training, technology and overall dedication to defining and implementing the premier custom fitting experience anywhere.
